- Project Goal - 

To promote unity and mutual cooperation by imparting adequate consciousness raising & skill development training, providing capital support to promote their economic capacities and also provide overall development services for socio-economic improvement of the less-fortunate target constituency in the project areas.

- Target group -

• Mainly the target group of FOCUS is the poverty stricken people of the southern parts of Bangladesh e.g. the landless, marginal farmers, vulnerable women and the natural climate effected people.
• As many as 60 existing Credit Union members are the Target Group of FOCUS. All these Credit Unions are the member of FOCUS.

Project location -

 The working area of the FOCUS is remote and under developed communities on the other hand the most poor and poverty stricken area of Bangladesh according to the statistical information.  It is coastal belt and disaster prone area, due to very nearness of the Bay of Bengal and very much river in & river eroded area. Moreover, the cyclone like SIDR & AILA heats here almost every year.  All these  results high poverty, high rate of landless, malnutrition, starvation, exploitation,  deprivation, oppression and gender discrimination, social & male domination exists here  throughout  the  year.  And  other   social  disease  like  high  rate  of  divorce,  abandon, separation, women torturing, child & women trafficking etc.

Besides,  few  sub-districts ( upazilla )  will  be  extended  within mentioned  06  districts through FOCUS project approach according to the need  & requirement of the local domains  and  also needs & priorities of the target constituency.  Basically, priority will be given to above-mentioned 06 districts located in the southern parts of Bangladesh.

- Project & Activities -

Project Objectives: 

• To organize 40 (forty) more Credit Unions among the project areas to meet up target up to 100 CUs through this project approach.
• To strengthen 60 (sixty) existing Credit Unions for their gradual up-gradation year by year.
• Supplying by demand of economic inter-lending support for member CUs for strengthening their socio-economic business activities.
• To extend continuous support for enhancing capabilities and skills of the CUs & project related management staff, Board & Committee leaders as well as general members of the Credit Unions
• To mobilize the project related beneficiaries by organizing meeting, seminar, workshop & need based training programme for the promotion of experience & voluntary leadership in this region.
• Attending to publicity and disseminating knowledge & information from the global aspects.
• To develop policy & strategies for sustainability of the Credit Unions as well as FOCUS in this region.
• To organize support programme with the Credit Union leaders & members for disaster preparedness and management action.
